Your Training Description
Youth workers know there’s power in community. And finding effective ways to collaborate and engage with the communities you serve will lead to better outcomes for young people. One model for doing that is based on Community Programmer practices, including four core values of discovery, community, wellness, and equity. Community programmers design activities and events and find and coordinate the resources to bring them to life. In this training, you’ll explore what it means to be a community programmer and how to bridge those practices with your youth work to benefit young people. You’ll also learn about the core components of the Vivid Arts Program Model that can help you deepen your skills.
Your Learning Objectives
- Define what a Community Programmer does and how that benefits young people
- Explore Community Programmer best practices and consider how you can incorporate them into your youth development facilitation
- Identify key advantages of an entrepreneurial mindset when leading youth-centered initiatives and programs
- Learn about the importance of equity in youth work by discovering what is actionable and what is conceptual
