More Than Words
Your Tool Description
Communications
- Much of what we communicate happens without words. Nonverbal communication like facial expressions, posture, gestures, and tone of voice can reveal how someone feels, even when they don’t say it out loud. These cues help us understand each other more fully, build trust, and respond with empathy. Learning to recognize body language is an essential part of becoming a strong communicator in any relationship and improve social-emotional skills.
- This tool will help you guide young people in noticing and interpreting nonverbal cues. It creates an opportunity to explore how body language shapes relationships and how to respond in ways that show care and awareness. By working through real-world images together, you’ll support their emotional awareness, strengthen their communication skills, and encourage habits that promote positive, respectful interactions.
- Why It's Important: Communication is more than words. When we learn to read body language, we become a better listener, friend, and problem solver. You’ll pick up on how people feel, even when they don’t say it out loud and you’ll know how to respond in ways that build trust and connection.
