  • Girls are the fastest growing segment of the juvenile justice system. Relationship-building between girls and adults is one of the most critical factors in their healthy development.
  • Your ability to provide trauma-informed and gender-specific intervention strategies for girls is critical. This training will provide you with insight into common characteristics of system-involved girls so that you can better understand their unique needs.
  • When you know how much relationships matter, you’ll be more effective in improving the long-term outcomes for girls.

Your Trainer

Reviewer Photo Kristi Cobbs is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker whose background includes providing direct services to system-involved girls as well as providing leadership and direction to residential and community-based agencies around program assessment, program development and implementation. In her previous role as the Girls Services Coordinator for Hennepin County she worked diligently to advocate, educate and promote a strength-based, victim-centered approach to working with girls in the County’s child welfare and juvenile justice system. In her current position she is responsible for providing a safe, secure and healthy environment for girls at the Hennepin County Home School which is a Department of Corrections state-licensed residential treatment facility. In addition, she has over 12 years of progressively responsible work experience in program management including work plan development and implementation, grant management, and staff development. Kristi has provided a wide variety of trainings and technical assistance to local community-based and residential service providers that focus on female and culturally-responsive, trauma-informed services.
