Staying Connected When Youth Shut Down
Your Course Description
Behavioral Intervention
- When youth shut down, go quiet, or emotionally disengage, it can be hard to know how to respond. In this training, you’ll explore how shutdown can function as a stress response and how common reactions may unintentionally increase pressure or disconnection.
- Through practical examples, reflection activities, and real-world youth work scenarios, you’ll learn relationship-centered strategies for responding in ways that reduce pressure while helping connection stay possible, even during difficult conversations, check-ins, intake interactions, or group settings.
- This course will help you approach these moments with greater clarity, confidence, and care.
