Your Course Description

Des Icon
  • Transgender youth face disproportionately high rates of mental health challenges, in part because of the constant burden of microaggressions, misgendering, and environments that fail to affirm who they are. These everyday experiences of exclusion can deeply affect their well-being and sense of belonging.
  • This course will give you concrete tools to reduce harm and increase affirmation, including understanding the impact of microaggressions, practicing respectful language, and applying the CPR (Calm, Practice humility, Repair) model when mistakes occur.
  • By committing to these practices, you can create safer, more supportive spaces where transgender young people not only feel seen but are able to thrive.

Your Learning Objectives

  • Recognize the impact of microaggressions and understand why avoiding them is important
  • Recognize common trans microaggressions and practice affirming language
  • Learn and practice the CPR model for responding to microaggressions
