Your Training Description
Depression has a negative impact on healthy development. We expect young people to act moody so signs and symptoms of depression often go unnoticed and untreated. Youth depression is on the rise in the United States. It is more important than ever to teach young people healthy ways to cope with their thoughts and feelings, and to connect them with additional resources when needed.
As a youth worker, it’s important you are aware of the red flags and learn when and how to intervene. Having a basic understanding of what to look for and how to help will give you skills to support youth struggling with depression. There are different types of depressive disorders, but you don’t need to know them all or be a psychologist to help youth with depression.
In this training, you’ll learn about how depression develops in youth and how to identify warning signs. You’ll also gain strategies you can teach to the youth you serve so they can learn to manage their depression in healthy ways. Join us for this important training. You may be saving someone’s life.
Your Learning Objectives
- Learn about the development of depression in youth
- Identify the signs and symptoms of depression in youth
- Acquire 2-3 coping strategies that you can teach a youth to help them manage their depression
