Your Training Description
The ethical responsibility of mandated reporting requires understanding the role itself, the specific legal requirements, and knowledge of state agencies and resources in your area. There are so many definitions, jurisdictions, and requirements to keep track of that it can be easy to feel confused or overwhelmed. What’s more, each state in the U.S. has different statutes for mandated reporting and those requirements are constantly evolving.
If you’re a youth worker in Minnesota, this training is for you! By gaining a specific understanding of MN law pertaining to mandated reporting, you’ll be better prepared to protect the young people you serve. Understanding the purpose of mandated reporting in general, and getting a good handle on local reporting requirements of the state and county in which you live and serve youth makes you a stronger ally. Knowing where to turn before an incident takes place will prepare you to think on your feet and handle any situation with confidence.
You’ll learn about available resources to help you critically think through the process of reporting, as well as current terms and definitions to better understand reporting requirements. You’ll take a closer look at various MN child welfare agencies and their jurisdictions. Most importantly, you’ll be able to apply your knowledge of Minnesota’s mandated reporting procedures into the work you do every day.
*NOTE FOR NON-MN YOUTH WORKERS: We also have a more broadly focused training that is not state-specific, FREE for everyone – check out Updated Considerations for Mandated Reporting.
