Your Training Description

Because youth experience a lot of stress, it is imperative that you introduce techniques that build resiliency and help them navigate difficult times. Learn practical interventions to assist youth with self-regulation, focus, de-escalation, community connection and overall well-being. Understanding neuroscience and the impact of stress will help you recognize signs of trauma and intervene effectively with mind-body practices. You will practice regulating movement, breath work, relaxation techniques and social emotional activities to help youth build connection and a sense of safety in their body.

Your Learning Objectives

  • Identify the impact of trauma/stress on the nervous system and how to intervene using mind-body practices
  • Understand the role of yoga-based movement, breath work and relaxation techniques in regaining a sense of safety and stability in the body
  • Be able to recognize signs of trauma and how to intervene effectively using a mind-body approach
  • Gain an understanding of how mindfulness and yoga-based activities and techniques impact youth emotionally, physically, and mentally

Each of YIPA’s trainings are designed around a broad framework of eight youth work competencies. The competency focus of this training is: BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION.

Adopt a mindset and perspective to understand the connection between emotions and behaviors, effectively model managing your own emotions as you teach youth to manage theirs, and diffuse dysregulated behavior and help youth re-regulate.

This training will count as 1.5 CE hours for most boards. Please contact your board directly with questions on submitting. You are encouraged to print or save this training information as a PDF for your records.
