Behavioral Intervention
- How you understand, respond to, and de-escalate conflict matters in achieving the best outcomes for youth. There are skills and strategies for managing conflict effectively.
- In conflict situations, these are healthy protective factors that could even be a life-saving skill set. Develop a broader understanding of the causes of conflict. Learn about the conflict cycle, the psychological elements that connect stressful events to thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
- You’ll gain tools and strategies to respond to challenging behavior and difficult situations, and be better equipped to de-escalate potential crisis situations.

- Recognize the importance of understanding and knowing your own triggers
- Learn the importance of understanding perception vs reality

Your Trainer
Michelle Nelson has over 25 years of experience leading, managing, and training professionals in the human service industry, especially those working with young people. In addition to her youth worker and leadership skills, she is well-versed in team, program, and organizational development to include strategic planning. She is a certified trainer for the Crisis Prevention Institute, The National Council for Behavioral Health, Thera International Rising, and ACES interface. She also provides training on Motivational Interviewing and is well versed in Reclaiming Youth Interventions from the Life Space Crisis Intervention Institute. Michelle has delivered numerous trainings at local, state, and national conferences. She also provides consultation services for several private and public businesses. Michelle’s education includes a Masters in Management, Bachelors in Criminology/Sociology and a certificate in Leadership and Change. Have a question?
