    Why it matters

Around the globe, young people face huge challenges. Some don’t have enough to eat. Others struggle at school. Many live with violence and war as part of their daily lives. Despite these difficulties, their hearts are full of hope and dreams.

As youth workers, we see their challenges up close and witness their strength and courage. We know they need our support. It’s our calling to help them grow into the beautiful people they are meant to be.

On this International Youth Day, I know you are making a positive impact in the lives of young people.

    Empowering Youth, Building Tomorrow

The slogan for International Youth Day 2024, "Empowering Youth, Building Tomorrow," reminds us of the vital role young people play in building safe and inclusive communities. They bring fresh perspectives and collaboration that our world so desperately needs.

Let’s look at just a few ways in which young people make a difference:

    • Promoting Peace: Young people organize and participate in initiatives that promote understanding and unity.
    • Innovative Solutions: They use creativity to find new ways to address community issues and global challenges.
    • Empowering Peers: Young people support and uplift each other, creating networks of strength and solidarity.
    • Climate Action: They lead movements to address climate change and protect our planet.
    • Social Justice: Young people champion causes for equality and justice, inspiring us all to strive to better ourselves.

International Youth Day is a call for You-nity

On this International Youth Day, let’s truly listen to young people and prioritize their needs. They have so much to teach us about love, humanity, and spirit. We must empower them!

I believe that the world needs to unify in our support for young people for peace and prosperity to truly exist. When our young people struggle, we all struggle, and no one wins.

By valuing their voices and experiences, we will build a future where everyone contributes and feels a sense of belonging. That’s unity.

Here are just a few examples of how we can support and learn from young people:

    • Actively Listen: Carefully listen to their thoughts about issues, innovation, and hope for a better tomorrow.
    • Support Their Dreams: Help them achieve their goals by providing resources and mentorship.
    • Value Their Ideas: Recognize and appreciate their contributions to the community.
    • Foster Innovation: Encourage them to think creatively and develop new solutions.

In these times of intense division worldwide, young people show us the power of working together to solve problems for the common good. International Youth Day reminds us that real change happens when we work together, as a team. From social issues to inclusion and equity for others, young people inspire us to strive for a better world. With them and for them.

At YIPA, our commitment to young people is driven by our unwavering values. We believe deeply in your ability to help young people achieve their dreams. Investing our energy in you creates a brighter future for everyone.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a youth worker. Our team at YIPA values you and your hard work. We are your biggest fans and we’re here to support you. Together, let’s stand with young people and create a world filled with hope, possibility, and YOU-nity.
