Des Icon
  • Youth workers must recognize the effects of oppressive trauma and learn strategies to promote healing and resiliency. You can foster system accountability throughout your organization and youth programs.
  • Expanding your understanding of oppressive trauma-informed practices supports equity for young people.
  • You will be encouraged to examine your role in building a “new normal” where we have system accountability and thoughtfully designed programming for healing rather than harm for young people of color and other marginalized groups that experience ongoing harm from racialized and historical trauma.

Your Learning Objectives

  • Learn about racialized and historical trauma and how it impacts communities
  • Consider how your work with young people can foster system accountability, transformative justice, and healing
  • Explore the value in transitioning from one modality of trauma-informed care to a multifaceted approach, such as oppressive trauma-informed care
