  • Eating disorders are on the rise. They can affect anyone but adolescence is a common age of onset. You don’t need to become an expert in eating disorders but should know how to recognize warning signs of common types of eating disorders.
  • Learning how to refer a young person for an eating disorder assessment could save their life. Learn about the different types of eating disorders, intervention strategies, and current treatment approaches available.
  • Gain knowledge and skill to support a young person struggling with an eating disorder.

Your Trainer

Reviewer Photo Heather Gallivan, PsyD, LP, is the Clinical Director at Melrose Center. She joined Melrose in 2004 and has worked with eating disorder patients in all levels of care from outpatient to residential treatment settings. She obtained her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology. Prior to joining Melrose Center, Dr. Gallivan served 5 years in the United States Navy as an active-duty psychologist. She is a passionate leader and teacher concerning the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, and how societal messages impact our beliefs and attitudes about food, weight, and body image.
